> [!abstract] A series of steps that creates a desired value for the customer
Value stream is the [[Process]] of creating the artifact that a [[Stakeholder]] (customer) find of enough value that they are willing to trade their resources (money, services, time) for it.
A value stream consist of a series of value-adding stages. Each stage will have a series of activities that transform each activity input into a different output. These activities are refereed to as Business [[Process]]es.
## Notes
- An activity in in self may not increase value for the [[Stakeholder]] but could enable a step later in the stream to increase value for the [[Stakeholder]]
- Value streams tends to a high-level, end-to-end view
- When defining [[Value stream]]s we start with the desired value for the customer and work our way back until there is no steps left that our organization handles
- [[Value stream]] mapping is a relative to [[Wardley Mapping]]
- Are typically expressed in a verb-noun format such as "Acquire Product" or "Fulfil Order."
